Why can't I download this video?
Updated
PastePull saves public posts, the ones anyone can open without logging in. When a download fails, the message tells you why. Here's what each one means and what you can do.
Posts only logged-in people can see
We never log in to any platform and never ask for your password, so these posts stay out of reach:
- “This post is private, so it can't be downloaded.” The account is private, or the post is shared with friends only.
- “This post needs a login to view (private, age-restricted or a story), so it can't be downloaded.” The post is age-restricted or marked sensitive, it's in a private group, or it's a Story or highlight.
Why it plays in your app but not here
The app shows you the post because you're logged in, and perhaps because you follow the account. We see every post the way a logged-out visitor does. If a logged-out visitor can't open it, neither can we, and the creator has chosen who sees it. Ask them for the file instead.
The link isn't a single post
- “This link isn't a single post. Open the post itself and copy its link.” You copied a profile, a hashtag, a sound or a playlist. Open the one video or photo you want and copy its own link with Share › Copy link.
- “That doesn't look like a link. Copy the post's link and paste it here.” What you pasted has no web address in it. Copy the link again.
- “This site isn't supported yet.” PastePull works with TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Pinterest, Reddit, Bluesky, Snapchat Spotlight, Twitch clips and Dailymotion.
The post is gone or has nothing to save
- “This post doesn't exist or was deleted.” The creator deleted it, the platform removed it, or part of the link is missing. Copy the link again from the app.
- “We couldn't find a video or photo in this post.” The post is text only, or its video lives on another site and appears only as a link preview. Open that site and copy the link there.
- “This content was removed from our service after a copyright or privacy request.” The owner asked us to stop offering it. Our copyright policy explains how these requests work.
Busy platforms and slow moments
- “TikTok is limiting our server right now. Please try again in a few minutes.” (or another platform's name). Platforms cap how many posts one server may fetch. When that happens we back off instead of working around it, so wait a few minutes. The service status page shows when things are back to normal.
- “You're going a bit fast. Please wait a moment and try again.” Too many links came from your connection in a short time. Wait a few seconds.
- “That took too long. Please try again.” or “The platform didn't answer as expected. Please try again.” The platform was slow or changed something. Try again, and if it keeps happening, check the service status page.
- “Please complete the quick security check and try again.” A short check from Cloudflare makes sure you're a person, not a bot. Complete it and paste the link again.
Problems while saving
- “This download link expired. Paste the post link again.” Download links work for up to 45 minutes. Paste the post's link again to get a fresh one.
- “The download didn't start. Please try again.” Your browser blocked or interrupted the download. Try again, and allow downloads if your browser asks.
- “Can't reach our server. Check your connection and try again.” Your phone or computer is offline, or a network filter blocks the site.
When our server is blocked but the post is public
Sometimes a platform blocks our server even though the post is public. For X and Bluesky, the browser helper lets your own browser collect a public post and hand it to PastePull. It first checks that a logged-out visitor can see the post, so it never saves private ones.
