Instagram Reel downloaded without sound
Updated
There are two reasons a downloaded Reel is silent: Instagram muted it, or the tool you used saved only the picture. The first can't be undone. The second is easy to fix.
First, check the Reel in the app
Open the Reel in Instagram and play it with the sound on. If it's silent there too, or Instagram says the audio isn't available, Instagram removed the sound, usually because the music's rights holder asked it to. The video Instagram serves is then silent, so every download of it is too.
Picture and sound are stored apart
Instagram often keeps a Reel's picture and sound as two separate files and plays them together while you watch. A download tool that grabs only the picture gives you a silent video.
PastePull joins the two into one MP4 as it downloads, without re-encoding either, so the file plays with sound in any app.
Save only the sound
- Paste the Reel's link at the top of this page.
- Choose Audio among the qualities, then tap Download. You get an M4A file.
- Need an MP3? Tap Edit, set Save as to Audio (MP3), then tap Export.
Still no sound?
- Check the player: some apps start videos muted. Turn the volume up in the player itself.
- Try another player, like VLC. If the sound plays there, the first app was the problem, not the file.
- If you used another site or an old download, paste the Reel's link here again to get a file with both tracks.
